Arbitration

Our arbitration experience covers a wide range of industry sectors, including banking, insurance, shipping, energy, construction, mining, and telecommunications, as well as shareholder and joint venture disputes. Our lawyers are highly experienced and both Ben Horn and Norair Babadjanian are Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), and supporting members of the London Maritime Arbitrators’ Association (LMAA).  Norair is a member of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) and of the London Court of International Arbitration Users’ Council (LCIA).

We are regularly instructed as counsel in international commercial and investment arbitration proceedings and to enforce arbitral awards before local courts. Members of our team have conducted international arbitrations on behalf of clients in Russian, English, and French under the rules of the main international arbitral institutions, such as the London Court of International Arbitration, London Maritime Arbitrators Association, Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, International Chamber of Commerce, International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations under the Rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade.

Our lawyers handled one of the leading cases relating to arbitration law determining the scope of the arbitration exception set out in the Brussels Convention and the Judgment Regulation and has experience dealing with the restraint of court proceedings brought in breach of an agreement to arbitrate as well as all aspects of appeals to the English courts from arbitral awards.

Both Ben and Norair accept appointments as arbitrators.

The firm also has experience of handling mediations on behalf of clients having been involved in numerous successful mediations, some court sponsored and some voluntary.
